South Dakota football enters fall camp with several key position battles still unsettled, giving returning players, transfers, and younger contributors an opportunity to earn significant roles before the season opener. The coaching staff will be evaluating depth across the offensive line, secondary, and skill positions while also working to identify leaders on both sides of the ball. Inside the Pack will track roster movement, projected depth-chart changes, and the biggest developments throughout camp.
Who is your prediction for breakout player of the year?
Who is your prediction for breakout player of the year?
The obvious answer is Tysen Boze, so for fun I’ll say Jaden Brown.
Who is your prediction for breakout player of the year?
Not sure you can classify it as a “breakout” player, but KJL is as motivated as ever after coming off his injury from last year. You can say the same thing about CP3.
I also think that whoever ends up being QB1 is going to have a much better year than the public/national media expect. He is going to have a very good supporting cast around him in a run first type offense.
On the same vein as KJL, I think Tim White is going to come back with a vengeance as well.
Who is your prediction for breakout player of the year?
Offense: I think Brayden White or Carson Fletcher will have big seasons. Could we see a true freshman WR make a big splash? Possibly. Tristan Ducker & Cody Case both had great True Freshman seasons in 2016 & 2017. But for returning players that I know of, I think Brayden or Carson (or both) could have huge seasons.
Defense: Gabe Hardman & RJ are the easy answers.. But, I believe transfers Isaiah Wray & Tyler Sapit are poised for breakout seasons. Kevin Dodard & Josh Grant could also have massive seasons in the secondary. Tim White for comeback player of the year on the defensive side.
