There are certain games that stick around. September 10, 2011 is one of them. Eastern Washington walked into the DakotaDome as the No. 1 team in the country and defending FCS national champion. The Eagles had Bo Levi Mitchell at quarterback — the reigning national championship game MVP and one of the biggest names in the FCS. South Dakota had Dante Warren. Yes. That Dante Warren. The same guy who now coaches Charles Pierre Jr., Keyondray Jones-Logan, Carson Fletcher and the rest of USD’s running backs was the Coyote quarterback the last time Eastern Washington came to Vermillion. And he helped…

1. Staying disciplined and not trying to do too much. Bell is very talented, but I believe if the D-Line sticks to their assignments, Wade / Gabe / Harrison should be able to contain him. The Yote defense has only allowed 246 rushing yards this season. 75 of those yards, came from opposing QBs Griffis (CCSU, 8 carries, 43 yds) and Leuth (UNC, 13 carries, 32 yds). Bell is on a different level compared to those two. He has 24 carries for 112yds and 4 TDs. The D-line and LB corps will need to bring their A-game. This should be another good test against a solid duel threat QB. The Valley is littered with dual threats this year, and the Yotes will need to be primed heading into conference play when facing top-tier FCS/Valley QBs.

2. Yes, USD can continue the ground and pound. The Oline gets better with each snap. I really want the Yotes to aim for 250 rush yds/game this year. USD has the backfield to do so. FEED THEM THE ROCK‼️ I firmly believe that CP3, Key & Carson Fletcher are going to all have 100+ yard games, in the same game this year, at least once.

3. The entire team! Mainly, the defense. I loved seeing the Yotes register 7 TFL & 2 sacks against Northern Colorado, but that’s not enough. Tim White got robbed of his INT. That was a bullshit targeting calling.. regardless, I NEED to see the secondary (or somebody on defense) get an INT this weekend. Tack on a forced fumble & Yotes recovery and I’ll be a satisfied fan (with a win at the end of the game, of course). I know parts of the defense are still gelling, but we need to win the turnover battle on defense. The offense has been playing very clean, but if we can force a few turnovers on defense, that would be awesome🤩 and also continue to build a complete game on offense, defense and special teams.

4. Yotes win, 41-10. The offense continues to fire on all cylinders and the defense plays an outstanding game. Special teams continues competing at a high level on all phases.

see you all at tailgate‼️🐺

Yes! If we could get that turnover dam to break, we will be sitting good.  Tim was absolutely robbed.

1) I would be more nervous about Bell if we hadnt already faced two mobile QBs and we didnt have film on him.  He has two games under his belt and you know Kirch has already found his weakness.

2)Honestly I need to see the Yotes run the ball better, which is weird to say, but we need to get something going on inside.

3) It has to be Linebackers. With the offense the will face, I think it is important that they have a great game.

4)Watch the show to find out.  I will give some insider info though, Yotes will be 3-0 after the game.

EWU is going to be the best team we have faced so far this year (and by a wide margin in my opinion). Despite the score, UNC was not as good as I was anticipating. A few more executions and breaks and I think the score would have been similar to the CCSU game. Nevertheless, EWU is a much better squad. Our defense is going to see high tempo, spread you out offense for the first time. Our D will need to stay patient as this offense is going to be very frustrating to defend. Lots of dink and dumps from the QB and he is will to take off with the ball at any time. Expect them to be in a lot of 2nd and mids and 3rd and shorts. If we play disciplined and don’t try to do too much, we will be fine.

I too would like to see the run game get going, especially in between the tackles. Our O-line has improved each game so far, but the EWU D-Line will present some new challenges this week. They are far better than CCSU and UNC. I think the back end of the EWU defense is very gettable. I predict multiple explosive plays from the offense and a lot of TDs.

I expect a high-flying affair on Saturday. Give me the Yotes 52-35!!! Get your popcorn ready!

1. Finding the guy behind his line! He is so good at using the ability to bouncing out from behind a block, LB need to be able to crash on him when needed. On my rewatch of their game that QB sneak was dirty! Bouncing out to no mans land and taking a 4th down +30 yards.

2. I think our RB room has another level to it. Will they continue to find success… yes. However, the deepest RB room in the FCS has another level to it and I want to see it.

(I struggle with the mix of how efficient we are vs the old identity of control the clock and run it down their throat.)

3.Looking at LBs. I think these weeks with mobile QBs will continue to fall on them being able to meet that run at the line.

4. Love this schedule and how it continues to improve bit by bit. YOTES 38-24

Weather looks great. Won’t make it unfortunately but excited to see the temps out of the 90s.

Very lukewarm about what the attendance will be but I guess it’ll be a blast regardless. Hopefully the defense locks them down.
